do you guys remember that boy in the movie About A Boy with hugh grant?
his name was marcus and he was short and chubby and adorably cute.


i remember watching this movie on dvd and loved it sooo much! i even cried when marcus had to go up and sing for his mum at his school and everyone laughed at him but then hugh grant came out with his guitar and accompanied marcus. lol.
i also love hugh grant! i swear its the accent.



well anyway, i've been watching this series called Skins on dvd. its airs on the SBS, i don't know when, but Dymocks is selling their dvd so i assume it airs on there.
the show is actually really good. it follows a group of teenagers who get stoned, drunk, have sex and all the while still pass their A-levels.
each episode is about each character and you get to see how fucked up some peoples lives are. sounds lame, but its true. you just don't really think about all the things that could happen to teenagers ie. in their family life.

aside from the show being highly entertaining causing me to fall ridiculously behind in uni, the main character Tony, the leader of the gang is SO HOT.
i didn't recognise him at all, but my work friend told me that he was the boy from About a Boy.
i really couldn't believe it. i never thought marcus would grow up to be so damn handsome

there is this episode of when he sings in the choir as a duet and he has his hair slicked back and basically serenades this girl while his own girlfriend is in the audience. i nearly fell in love with him right there.
he's a real bastard in the show though. but i think that just adds to his charm haha.

i'm completely smitten by him. its such a shame he's a year younger than me.

i love these twins! i look forward to seeing them all the time, but they live all the way up in Clarkson, the end of the trainline. It took us 45 minutes to drive up there. They used to live across the road from us, but sadly, they moved.

anyway, its nearly the end of the second week of university and all i can say is- THANK GOD THIS IS THE LAST YEAR!!!

my GREAT summer

the summer of 2007/2008 really could not have been a better one.

it started of with finishing exams and passing that disastrous unit 260 (on the dot) thaaaaank god.

then it was off to melbourne and sydney for a whirlwind holiday for 10 days. don't get me wrong, i had a really good time but i was just completely exhausted towards the end of it. my advice is to never go on holiday directly after exams, especially a holiday where you're going to be running around alot.

anyway, after the trip to the east it was a month worth of "full time" work. this meaning 8 shifts (8 hours a day) in a row with one day off and then 8 shifts again. i was lucky enough, however, to get 12 shifts in a row with one day off then 8 days again. that month working like that during christmas quite nearly killed off all my spirit and tolerance towards human nature. people are just so stupid....sometimes.

but wait, it gets better... after working those insane hours for a month and a bit, i had summer school!! oh yippee dee doo dah day!
the good thing about this was that i was now working a quarter of what i was, which means i was a much more nicer person and had a more positive outlook on life.lol.
summer school was ok. i'm just sooo glad its over, but it wasn't that bad.
i would, yes i would, do it again.

so all this while, when i'm going through horrible horrible work, and boring boring summer school when i could actually be relaxing and completely enjoying myself in asia somewhere with my friends/family- i had the fact that i was going on exchange to USA to comfort myself....

BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

NOW after all that suffering during summer i put myself through, those damn bastards at university of oregon have informed curtin and me that they can't guarantee me a spot in the units i want to take. the only way i can secure a place is when i fly allll the way there and register.
this would all be dandy if i had a lot of units i could take, but i can only take 3 units over there, no more no less (because its in the final year of my degree and the amount of units i can take overseas is ridiculously limited).
if i do fly all the way there and register, i have to prove that i have satisfied the prerequisites and if that is fine, then i am faced with the possibility that the classes that i want may be full.
also, if i can't take any of those units, say i can only get into 2 and not 1, i will have to fly all the way back because of the conditions of my visa.
ALSO, for every unit i take over there that is not credited towards my degree, curtin will charge me $1,600 per unit ON TOP of HECS.

this is a complete nightmare.
i have no idea in the freaking world why they couldn't tell me all this BEFORE i started applying AND paying for my visa, booking AND paying for my flights and paying for the campus housing that i was going to stay at.

not only have i wasted so much money, i have wasted sooo much tiiiiiiiiime and i was so so superrr excited to go.
its so completely depressing and disappointing.

the past week i have been trying to study for my exam and dealing with this crap. sending emails here and there to try and sort out what the hell was going on. i was well and truly burnt out and overwhelmed.
now curtin is meeting with the director to try and reimburse all the money that i have spent and if they aren't changing their policy, then curtin is cutting of the exchange agreement between them.

but..whateveeerrrrrrr.
i am so over it all now. applying for exchange, organising the exchange, paying for it then to have it all blow up in your face a month prior to departure really isn't fun.
recommendation? never try to go on exchange in your final year where your unit selections are so limited.

well on the upside, i have one less unit to do this year. lol.

i think i'll end this whinge whing whinge post.....

YAY ONLY ONE MORE CLASS OF SUMMER SCHOOL!!!!

no more not being able to go out sunday/wednesday nights because i had to wake up at 7am to make it to summer school in time, no more during tute work in limited time, no more not being able to go out on sat/fri nights because i had a mid sem worth 45% to study for (and no scaling!!), no more having to sit through 4 hours of uni straight!!

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

well not quite just yet.
this will all happen after the 12th which is the final exam.
*sigh*
i can't bloody wait.

actually, to be rather honest with you, summer school isn't all that bad. apart from waking up early and sitting through 4 hours straight of uni, the time restraints on the whole course makes it easier to retain information when it comes to assessment times.
but thats about it.
oh wait, another positive thing is that nasrul is a really good lecturer/tutor- i know, why the hell did he not show it during finance (analysis)?!- but he explains things really well and is actually nice. he'll be the unit controller for finance (portfolio management) this year so you guys will be fine. apparently the reason why everyone complained about this unit was cos of the current unit controller- lakshman alles or something.
think ken leo. then multiply it by 4. and that equals lakshman (as i have been told, duno how true it is)

anyway, todays lesson was the most boring ever! i fell asleep (as usual) and when i was awake all i could think about was buying the silicon case for my phone on ebay while nasrul was droning about options (yuk).
i keep dropping my phone and it really hurts my heart. i've barely had this phone for 4 months and it looks like i have had it for years. so sad.
but the case doesn't look that great


whats more is that its $13. $6.50 for the case and $6.50 for postage! doesn't seem worth it to me, but i have no clue about these things. does anyone know where i can get these from perth?

the only outing i have been to- (i swear i have no life these days, all i've been doing is summer school, work and organising exchange stuff, but i have turned into the daughter my mum has always wanted, always at home and never out) was on aus day where we just went to tim's friends house and watched the glow of the fireworks from his roof. why only the glow? cos the trees blocked out the actual thing.

its been awhile eh.

reading huoy min and kah seans blog posts on their holidays made me so jealous and depressed, i lost inspiration to write anything on my own.

happy new year everyone!! i know its a bit late but still....

been rather busy lately, was working practically everyday with one day off every 8 or 12 days the whole of december.

now i have summer school. oh lord. its the most boring thing ever. i fell asleep in the first class on thursday. but the class yesterday wasn't too bad.

guess who is conducting it? NASRUL. the finance (analysis) guy. he is so much better in this unit than analysis and he remembers me from analysis too haha. i fell asleep so many times in that class especially when he walked around to our table and jac never woke me up! so embarrasing.

i'm actually really really scared for this unit because its supposed to be harder than acct 260.
HELLOOOOO.
are you FREAKING serious?! i barely passed that unit!!! nasrul was going on about how we really have to focus and everything in summer is condensed with less time so its harder than usual. ALSO there is no scaling with summer courses.

i am so screwed.

hmm what else have i been up to.... oh yes, organising the exchange thingo.
its the biggest headache ever.
applying for visa costs so much and its such a long and complicated process. all these forms, fees and interviews. so confusing.
then flights, i want to travel before and after so that just makes things harder
then insurance, health and travel.
so many things to do. i hope to god its worth it.

so among work, summer school and my exchange preparation i really haven't had any time to do anything apart from sleep and completely veg out on the couch.
why is my life so exciting.

anyways i'm off to thoroughly scrub the house, if my mum saw it in the state it is in now she would surely have a heart attack. my mum and sister are coming back tomorrow from their one and a half month holiday THANK GOD. no more scrounging around for food! yay!

today, like an hour ago, i was walking from work to my car and in the middle of that joyful journey there was a roundabout.

now, i don't know why and i have no idea what the hell possessed me to do it, but i walked onto the actual roundabout.
i didn't realise the complications (and not to mention the STUPIDITY) of it until like 5 minutes later when i was just standing there watching cars going around and around and around and around.....
...then i thought "hmmm, the cars aren't going to stop.." when it hit that OMG ITS A ROUNDABOUT!! the cars give way to their right so there will be a continuous flow of cars going around meaning.... i won't be able to get out of the roundabout. -__________-

far out, seriously!
why am i so freaking stupid!!!
it was soooo embarrasing, cars were driving past and you could just see the smirks on all the drivers faces!! aaaarrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

i am now awaiting to buy the 2nd season and waiting for the 7th (and last) season to be released here in Australia sometime later this month.

those fuckers have released a limited edition boxed set of the COMPLETE series of gilmore girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

of course they're going to bring out something like this! they did it for friends, charmed, sex and the city- everything! why am i so stupid!

i think i'm going to sell off the dvds that i have on ebay and buy this boxed set.

but....

similar thing happened to tim, when his boston legal dvds went into a boxed set of the 3 seasons and he had bought the first 2 seasons individually.
he was complaining and i said in reply,

"oh wah wah have a cry, its just dvds! geez its still the same shows, just packaged differently! freaking build a bridge and get over it, or just give the dvds to me and you go buy the boxed set!!"

why oh why oh why did i say that?!?!? now i get no sympathy from him!!!!

so i'm coming back in 2 days.
so this has been an absolute blast.
so living at a hostel was the greatest idea ever.

sydney reminds me so much of malaysia- the humidity, the buildings, the dirt, the roads, the prostitutes and my god- the ASIANS!

but melbourne is better, in my opinion. cos you know, my opinion is like soooooo important.
excuse me, i may be a tad delusional after a few drinks and walking around kings cross with old seedy men yelling at you and drunk yobos staggering around- sheesh, how did i survive!

anyway, we went to see the harbour bridge and opera house yesterday, i had the first glimpse of the bridge and nearly had a heart attack, i don't know why, i just excited when i see famous things. heck i even got starstruck when i saw the big brother stars in carousel!

today we went to chinatown with our new spanish friends and OH MY LORD are they hot or what!!!
right.
so only one of them was hot but OH MY LORD he looked like wentworth miller!!
it was a struggle to communicate with them- but just looking at him made it all better.

melbourne

i have to say that melbourne is soooooo much better than perth!

• the city is so big
• there are so many boutiques- brands that we have in myers, david jones etc etc all have their own shops here, like bardot, armani exchange, miss sixty, tommy hilfiger (did i spell that right?) and LOADS more but i can't remember..
• there are SO many many many MANY asians!!!!! think curtin and multiply that by a 1000 and you have the amount of asians you will see in the city here
• they have cute little restaurants in alley ways like in italy and those european places
• the chinatown is better eventhough the dim sum is crap
• they have trams!

ok thats all i have time for as i leech internet off alvin hehe

i hate study.
why does study have to be soooooo boring,
its so hard to get started which means i waste a ridiculous amount of time procrastinating.
i don't think i've done effective study since.....year 10. lol.

but listening to The Beatles somehow makes it all better =)

urgh, enough about study. i think i will start it after this post. (heh fat chance)

recently i've noticed two things about me- (oh geez how self absorbed!)-

1. i always get stopped for directions
   i don't know what it is, but everywhere i go, someone always comes up to me and asks where something is. don't get me wrong, i don't have a problem with pointing where so and so is but seriously, why me!!! there are other people walking around too! from my observations, people who approach me are middle aged- elderly ladies and mid 20 year old men. being as easy to persuade as i am, i always get sucked into walking them to wherever they need to go when i'm in a rush to get somewhere myself.
   
   example 1: vac work interview- some lady wanted to get to some building on the esplanade and i ended up going on the bus with her lol. i was panicking and stressing myself out so much because i thought i would be late for my interview.
   
   example 2: walking to uni from CBS car park (10 minutes late for class already)- some guy asks where tech park is. apparently me pointing frantically in the right direction wasn't enough, so i ended up walking to the end of the street and pointing "you walk up THERE". then i had to run all the way back up the street and to uni.
   
   i think its because i feel sorry for them because they look so lost and when i explain where their destination is, they look at me all confused like what i said made absolutely no sense (which is probably true), so i end up physically taking them there (out of guilt).
   
   hmm... now that i think about it, i don't know what the whole point of me writing all that was. but its written and it was long, so i can't be bothered altering it.
   
   
2. i keep walking into male toilets
   this happens quite alot. more frequently in foreign countries, but it also occurs often enough in perth.
   i have no idea why or how this happens, maybe because i don't pay attention to the picture on the door and when i'm busting like hell i just go into the first door i see.
   then i walk in and see urinals and only one or two cubicles. its quite frightening to be honest. and omg male toilets stink soooo much more than females. what's more frightening is walking on males relieving themselves.....then they see me....and i run out before they can say anything lol.
   the worst time had to be in singapore where the urinals were all occupied by uncles...GROSS.
   

anyway......

in the past few weeks where i should have been studying for uni stuff, i came across a new series called gossip girl.
justine introduced me to the books last year, and i've only read 3 out of the 8 (i think) books. they are so trashy, lame, bitchy and unrealistic that its just completely addictive.
the tv series is better than the books (in my opinion), everyone is so hot and everything they were is so nice- its all very OC-ish.



the show is set in upper east side New York where all the characters are children of top designers or high flying corporate executives. they're supposed to be high school kids going into college but they look way older (like the OC).



The main characters are Serena and Blair who are "best friends" but throughout the episodes you just can't decide who is bitchier than who. Their boy friends Dan and Nate are so hot. i think they are way better than Seth and Ryan.

harry potter!

this is a completely overdue blog post seeing as how harry potter was released more than 2 weeks ago, but i hadn't been at work to get the photos lol.
and alot of photos there will be!

the whole day was so much fun! but for me it started out rather badly.
the night before was a friday night which meant drinks with the vac work people. omg that was such a bad idea! who knew champagne could get u drunk so fast!!!
anyway, the point of the story is i ended coming home at 3am still drunk, collapsed on my bed and woke up at 6am when kher sing called me to say she was outside my house.

i was completely out of it and panicked like crazy- i didn't even have a costume ready!!!!!
so i ended up chucking anything on and had to wear glasses cos my eyes were too bloodshot to wear contacts.
it was all rather dramatic. lol.
(gosh, this makes me sound like an alco, but i'm really not!! it was just one night and definitely the last!!!!)

when i got to work i was feeling strangely alert and the hype of harry potter hit me so i was no longer that tired.
it was like i was running on a natural high.

as for me- i refused to be hermione cos i hate emma watson so i couldn't be in gryffindor. i didn't want to be mistaken for cho chang cos i hate her too, hence no ravenclaw for me. so i decided to be in slytherin (forecasting my love for severus snape). why not hufflepuff i hear u ask? well who in the world would wanna b in that house?! its kinda like the 'reject' house....

the doors are opening and we can hear the people running towards us...

seriously....it was scary seeing them charging towards the shop like no tomorrow! they had hunger in their eyes!!
it was really funny though.

haha rod (the guy in the black) was dressed as harry but then changed it to snape when he found the wig. the wig was so funny.

we had games for the kiddies to play-

they got all excited when the bicarb soda was added. you could hear them all scream and yell with glee! haha so cute!

she wanted to come in a disguise because like my fear of being mistaken for cho chang (since i'm asian) she was scared of people thinking she was parvarti patel (she's not indian, but people often mistaken her for one and she hates it- sound familiar? lol).

she won the art competition. if u look closely at the bottom you can see that she made a snitch haha its a gold cube with wings suspended in a plastic clear box.
good effort for a 10 yr old i reckon!

10am- 2 hours after the release and the lines were still rather long!

at 7am the lines went all the way past the end of fast eddys.

haha isn't that a character from some play station game?!

seeing everyone dressed up was so cool!

i was so jealous of the people reading it while i had to work!!

WELL all in all it was a fantastic day! i loved it how everybody got right into the spirit and made the release of the last harry potter book a thorough success!
its times like these that you just love your job and the people that you work with.

i still don't understand how i survived that shift though.
it was 6.30am - 5pm.
with 3 hours passed out sleep the night beforehand!!
my natural high lasted til around 11am then i felt like dying. but i pulled through and enjoyed it!

ahhhh well deserved coffee break!! (i had hot chocolate though) after a morning full of fun filled hard work!

no more harry potter books :(
